2010-2011 FASHION DESIGN & SEWING CLASS INFORMATION:

Registration fees are per family rather than per student. 

                    All current Homeschool Classes are held at One Day Academy Campuses  www.onedayacademy.com

Fashion Design & Sewing I – Age level: 8-12 year of age, BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE

Pre-Requisite:  None

 

Class Location & Times:

One Day Academy, Lakeline Campus, Tuesdays choose either: 8:30AM - 9:30AM or 9:30AM - 10:30AM

 

Beginning Students will learn:

  • Basic sewing machine function & safety
  • Basic Fabrics
  • Skills to construct simple garments
  • Participate in year-end Fashion Show 

 

Continuing Intermediate Students will:

  • Review basic sewing machine function & safety
  • Basic Fabrics
  • Learn more complicated construction techniques
  • Participate in year end Fashion Show

Fees & supplies:

$40 non-refundable registration per family will hold student’s spot in class

$40 supply fee (to cover cost of pattern packets, & folder with handouts) due 1st week of classes

$405 is annual Tuition (10% discount for payment of entire year up front)

(or $45 payment can be made in 9 monthly payments due September - May)

Sibling discount available ($40 per month for annual tuition of $360)

Sewing machines, sewing tools & folder with class handouts are provided by Instructor

Student is responsible for purchasing fabric and trims for each project

Fashion Design & Sewing IIA   Age Level:  TEEN BEGINNER      Pre-Requisite:  None

 

Class Locations & Times:

One Day Academy, Lakeline Campus, Tuesdays: 12:45PM - 2:15PM

 

Students will learn:

  • Basic sewing machine function & safety
  • Fashion design/sketching development
  • Cotton: from Dirt to Shirt
  • Fibers & fabrics
  • Fiber content & care labeling
  • Garment construction
  • Fashion show development
  • Student will produce a portfolio of 1st semester work

 

Fees & supplies:

$40 non-refundable registration per family will hold student’s spot in class

$40 supply fee (to cover cost of curriculum & handouts) due 1st day of classes

$405 is annual Tuition (10% discount for payment of entire year up front)

(or $45 payment can be made in 9 monthly payments due September - May)

Fashion Design & Sewing IIB   Age Level:  TEEN ADVANCED 

Pre-Requisite:  Completed FD&S IIA Teen Beginner class 

 

Class Locations & Times:

One Day Academy, Lakeline Campus, Tuesdays: 10:30AM - 12:00Noon

 

ADVANCED PROGRAM CURRICULUM:

 Information will advance each year so that by senior year student will have learned about different areas of apparel & textile industries and obtain skills needed to prepare for a career in it.

1st year Advanced Teen Students will

  • Learn basic patternmaking: dart manipulation by use of quarter scale sloper patterns 
  • Make personal dress form
  • Learn basic fitting techniques
  • Take an advanced level role in Year End Fashion Show Production

 

Continuing Advanced Teen Students will:

  • Further basic patternmaking knowledge:  dart manipulation by use of full scale personal sloper patterns created
     in     previous year's class
  • Assist 1st year advanced students in making personal dress forms, basic sloper patterns & basic fitting techniques
  • Learn how to use Adober Illustrator to make fashion flat sketches
  • Use basic sloper pattern to create more complicated original designed garments
  • Take an advanced level role in Fashion Show Production
